Text Mashups with the Cut'n'Mix Word Machine
The above diagram shows function buttons from the main Cut'n'Mix application dialog. It is basically a routing diagram showing how the program blends different text sources to produce a new random mashup. The numbers on the table below correspond to the numbers in the diagram:
- These buttons open up text tracks 1 - 4. Each track can load text either from a file, from the built-in random word generator or through a Windows paste operation.
- Each track has a "volume slider" which determines how much of a given track is included in the final blended mix. The sliders work on probabilities: if track 1 is at 100% while track 2 is at 50%, words are twice as likely to be pulled from track 1 into the final text mix.
- This is the "Do Mix" button, which starts the track blending process. Each time it is clicked, a new unique blend of words from the input tracks is executed.
- This is the shuffle button, adding another layer of word randomization to the output of the "Do Mix" function.
Cut'n'Mix comes preloaded with words from literature and classic texts including Shakespeare, Mark Twain, Oscar Wilde and many more. Here is the "Author Text Fill" function which is available from any one of the four input tracks or from the main output screen:
Cut'n'Mix has many different capabilities beyond text mixing including:
- Random poetry generator
- Word shredding
- Web page grabber
- Fridge magnet poetry
